It is difficult to imagine living in another time period. Especially one when even automobiles were a novelty at which to marvel. Author Gill Cross does an admirable job of making the early 1900s come alive through her vivid descriptions and the development of her characters. The protagonist, Katherine, is engaging and I became increasingly invested in her as the chapters of her life unfolded. As an enthusiast of the action and suspense genre, I found this book touching and reassuring. It made me feel good inside, and that an author capable of producing such a work will contribute to make the world a better place.

I LOVED this book. By far the best I've read in ages. Loved Kate, she was so warm and human and always seemed to pick herself up no matter what life threw at her. A great role model for women. Cant wait for the sequel.

The Meek Shall Inherit was recommended to me by a friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kate, the heroine is a really likeable and resourceful character who manages to make a success of her life in a time period when feminism was in its embroyonic stages. The writing style beautifully reflects the time period. A great read.

I enjoyed The Meek Shall Inherit because it held my interest right through to the end. I also thought conversation and description of the countryside was very good and well written.
